Explorer Post 89

The members of Explorer Post 89 are an integral part of the Wayne County Sheriff's Department. The members of the Explorer Post are a group of young adults that are interested in a career in law enforcement. They perform many functions throughout the year, including assisting with traffic control at major events, assisting with the Wayne County Fair, and volunteering for various public service details.

Explorers meet on the second and fourth Thursdays of the month from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Wayne County Sheriff's Department for planning and training.

There is a nominal cost of around $60 for the Explorer to purchase boots and a name tag for their uniform. The Post periodically has fundraisers to fund the rest of the uniform and Post activities.

Participating in the Exploring Program is an excellent stepping stone into a carreer in Law Enforcement.

For more information about the program, e-mail us or call (765) 973-9333. You can check out our Facebook Page as well.

The Explorer post is always accepting applications. Note: You must have completed the 8th grade AND be at least 14 years old and less than 21 years old to be eligible to be an Explorer.
